 What is OCIA?
 
 OCIA stands for the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults. Across the world, those who desire to join the Catholic Church go through this process of learning and faith-filled discovery about our Lord and the Church he founded.
 
 At St. Elizabeth Seton, the Holy Spirit, through the ministry of OCIA leaders, guides people on a journey of faith—one that involves the entire community. It is a process that has the potential to develop and deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ and kindle a passion to spread the Good News that Christ has brought to us throughout the whole world.
 
 The OCIA process (reviewed in depth on the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops website) is a series of carefully planned stages, marked by liturgical rites in the presence of the community, in which those seeking Jesus Christ and his Church embark on, and join us in, a continuing and deepening conversion into faith and discipleship.
 
 The OCIA journey is divided into four periods to engage the inquirer, the Christian from another faith community, or someone unbaptized. Our gatherings focus on encountering Jesus Christ and diving deeper into the teachings of the Catholic Church.
