What is Baptism?
"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you" - Matthew 28:19-20
The Catechism of the Catholic Church says, "Baptism is birth into the new life in Christ" (1277). When a person is baptized:
1. All sins are forgiven, both sins committed, as well as original sin inherited from Adam and Eve.
2. All punishment for sins is forgiven.
3. They become new creatures in the Holy Spirit.
4. They become members of the Body of Christ, the Church.
